Opportunity to Participate
DYLAN REEDE IS LOOKING FOR LOCAL MÉTIS TO INTERVIEW FOR A LOCAL HISTORY PROJECT.
Call our to the Métis Local members from St. Albert and Sturgeon County,
There is an opportunity to participate in a local history project with Dylan Reede, historian & film maker (Epcor Interpretive Project). Dylan has been working closely with Elder Archie Arcand of St. Albert and Sturgeon County Métis Local.
The project he is working on in 2023 will provide our Métis members with insight into our local history and the activities of the hard-working Métis people who lived around Big Lake, Lac Ste. Anne, St. Albert, and Fort Edmonton over 150 years ago. Dylan is especially looking for Métis individuals who could speak to our local historic fishing, hunting, and gathering practices. Specifically, he would like to speak to the descendants of the labours who worked at the Lac Ste. Anne fisheries.
The Métis people have been here since long before the missions were established. Think about your grandparents and family members who lived in these areas. You have the opportunity to speak to their life and their relationship with the local land. Let's bring their role to light. By participating in this project, you can put a face to these stories and contribute to the narrative of history.
